Business Sanjhi paper-cut

A round Sanjhi paper-cut in vermilion on ivory paper: a kadamba tree of fine, lace-like leaves, two peacocks facing each other beneath it and a row of lotus buds, inside a ring of cut petals. It is light and joyful while staying neat, which suits shops, schools, clinics, sweet shops and any business that sends its wishes to families.

Making it yours

Below the medallion the ivory paper is open for about half of the card's height, with room for your logo, each customer's name in a greeting pack, the title, a short thank-you, one offer line and your business name. Kumkum red matches the vermilion of the paper-cut, Maroon is deeper and quieter, and Dark brown keeps the text sober. The header symbol is off by default. The Elegant style is the default; Traditional gives the title more weight, and a logo of any colour shows well on the light paper.

About the craft: Sanjhi paper-cut

A Sanjhi artist cuts freehand, with fine scissors and no printed guide, so that every tree, bird and flower in a stencil stays joined to the rest as one piece of paper lace. The temples of Vrindavan used such stencils in the autumn season of Sanjhi to lay pictures in coloured powder; today the cut paper is mounted on a sheet of another colour and given as art. Peacocks under the kadamba, Krishna's tree, are a classic subject. This design shows one round Sanjhi of that kind in vermilion on ivory paper.
