Paithani faral
The look of a Paithani sari: a deep maroon silk ground with a woven flower border, and a wide pallu band at the bottom with peacocks and lotuses in gold and pink. It feels festive and a little grand, the way families dress for Diwali.

Making it yours
The silk panel above the pallu is yours, about three-fifths of the card, so a faral invitation with an address and a time window fits without crowding. Marigold text echoes the zari; Ivory white is quieter. A Shree Ganesh line opens the card, as many Maharashtrian invitations do.
About the craft: Paithani
Paithani is a hand-woven silk sari from Paithan, near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) in Maharashtra. Its zari border and pallu are woven with motifs such as peacocks (mor), lotuses and asawali flowers, and many Maharashtrian families keep a Paithani for weddings and festivals. This design borrows that woven border, gold on a deep maroon silk ground.
