Kalamkari Lakshmi Puja
Unbleached cotton framed by a pen-drawn border of flowering creepers, with peacocks in the corners and a kalash between lamps at the bottom, in madder red, indigo and ochre. It reads as quietly formal, a good match for the traditional Lakshmi Puja messages.

The writing sits in the plain cotton panel, set in from the edges and taking a little over half the card's height. Maroon, Indigo or Dark brown keep it close to the dyes in the border. The Shree Lakshmi line is set by default; for a family that prefers it, Ganesh or Om can take its place.
About the craft: Kalamkari
Kalamkari means 'pen work'. In the Srikalahasti style from Andhra Pradesh, artisans draw on cotton with a bamboo pen and fill the outlines with natural dyes such as madder red, indigo and yellow, washing the cloth between colours. Its borders are full of flowering creepers, lotuses and peacocks. This design follows that pen-drawn look for Lakshmi Puja, on a plain unbleached cotton ground.
