Gold foil kalash
A kalash in gold-foil line art on kumkum red: mango leaves drawn vein by vein, a coconut on top, a thread with tassels tied at the neck and a band of petals round the pot, with a few gold dots around it. Red and gold are the colours of a puja thali, which makes this a natural invitation to a Lakshmi Puja at home or at the shop.

Making it yours
Below the kalash the red is clear for about half the card, room for the puja muhurat, your address and a line of welcome. Gold foil keeps the text the colour of the kalash; Ivory white is the easiest to read on a small phone screen, and Gold pairs ivory text with a gold title. The card opens in the Elegant style, and the Shree Lakshmi line sits on top by default, in Gujarati script on Gujarati cards.
About the craft: Kalash
A puja begins by setting up the kalash: a pot of copper, brass or clay filled with water, often with a coin and a few grains of rice inside, mango leaves in its mouth, a coconut on top and a sacred red thread tied round its neck. The full pot stands for abundance and is honoured as a seat of the deities, and at Lakshmi Puja it is placed beside her image. This design draws that kalash in fine gold lines, from the veins of the leaves to the tassels on the thread.
