Phad Bhai Dooj
A warm ochre-yellow ground in a Phad border of flowers and paisleys, with an aarti thali at the bottom holding a diya, roli, rice and sweets, everything a sister prepares for the tilak.

Making it yours
Above the thali the ochre ground stays open for about three-fifths of the card's height, enough for a sibling's name, a few lines about your bond and your own name. Dark text reads best on the yellow, so the choices are Maroon, Leaf green and Dark brown. A small diya heads the card, and a photo of the two of you can sit in a round frame above the title.
About the craft: Phad
Phad paintings come from Shahpura and Bhilwara in Rajasthan. They are long painted cloth scrolls that tell the stories of folk heroes such as Pabuji and Devnarayan; travelling Bhopa singers unroll them and perform the story at night by lamplight. Bold figures, flat colours and a warm yellow ground are typical. This design uses a Phad-style border on that ochre ground, with an aarti thali for Bhai Dooj.
