Bombay has one of the largest groups of Art Deco buildings in the world, most of them built in the 1930s and 1940s on land reclaimed from the sea along Marine Drive and around the Oval Maidan. Architects working in reinforced concrete gave the style a local accent: stepped towers like ziggurats, sunburst grilles, fluted fins, round porthole windows and curved balconies, with Indian motifs worked in among them. Cinemas such as the Eros and the Regal carried it into the evenings of the city, and in 2018 the Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This film is drawn as a poster of that era, printed in four flat inks, ochre, cream and blue-black on teal: Ganesh rises on a stepped plinth with a sunburst behind him, your photo stands in a Deco frame with a fan-shaped crest, a sunburst fan unfolds before your title, and two searchlights sweep the sky behind a Marine Drive tower. The artwork is drawn in the Art Deco poster style for this film; it does not reproduce a real building or poster.
